In loving memory of Uncle Pat, the man that built so many up and fed many souls and dreams with his passion for horses.
Blackhawk Creek Ranch is situated on 10 acres in the beautiful city of whitehouse right across from Cain Elementary, it is a true gem of farmland tucked away where, if not for the sounds of the passing cars at the front, you wouldn't think you're in the city at all!
Blackhawk is proud to offer horseback riding lessons and exposure to the general public, along with providing fresh eggs and produce grown by their own hands in a self-serve farmstand. We believe that a connection formed with an animal can be life changing, and organic produce with limited mileage between it's home and your table is important. As many a wise man has said, "We are the stewards of the future and it is what we teach our youth that can either secure it or destroy it."

Pictured here on Bubbles, Angelia started riding horses at five, very quickly displaying a passion for them. Some say she might as well have been born on the back of one! She worked hard, proving that her love for horses wasn't a phase, but more so a way of life for her. That mentality led to her getting her first horse at 16- a gray Arabian she came to bond with that became her mount to later compete on in endurance races. Much like many things in life that have to take a backseat when kids come into the picture, anything to do with horses was placed on the backburner until she could finally return to them almost half a decade ago. Now, she enjoys working with horses and helping to show others just how great they can be after starting Open Range Adventures with her dear friend, Joelene. She has a fondness for neutral colors, loves anything chocolate, and her favorite thing about horses is that it gives her a sense of freedom.
Pictured here on Lil Pak, Lexi has always fostered an interest in the western lifestyle. The deal was sealed when she got her first pair of hot pink cowgirl boots! She first began working with horses in March of 2025 after hearing from a friend about riding lessons and later went on to accept a position at Blackhawk Creek working in their lesson program. She cares deeply about the bond that can be created between rider and horse, but also between fellow horse lovers as well. She struggles to describe her favorite color, describing it to be somewhere between a green and a blue, more muted and earthen in tone than vibrant. Her favorite song is "Horses are Faster" by Ian Munsick.
Pictured here on Bird, Joelene was raised around horses since she was three- not just in the front yard, but in the barn as well! Her mother and grandfather were horse trainers specializing in western and cutting competition, instilling the love of horses in her from the very beginning. She went on to become a trainer as well in her late high school and early college career, moving on to work under a cutting horse trainer and moving through the show circuit. Chasing shows around the states wasn't for her hometown-loving self, however, so she eventually returned to the place she grew up and settled down roots, later starting Open Range Adventures with her beloved friend, Angelia. She still trains horses here and there, but loves to share her love of learning about them with others through lessons and trail rides. Her favorite color is purple or blue, her favorite time of day is early morning twilight, and what she loves most about horses is their fascinating behaviors.
We are happy to welcome Angelia and Jo, the two ladies behind Open Range Adventures, into a partnership with our lesson program. Together, we are excited to see the Blackhawk barn family grow and continue to carry on Uncle Pat's legacy. These two ladies teach straight from the heart and look forward to establishing a 30-minute trail ride through the back portion of our property. In the meantime, they will be joining our lesson program as instructors and bringing their two wonderful horses with them. We are stoked to be making memories together and growing together!
